Ian's First Tooth

Last Sunday Ian's first tooth came through! After it cut through, he seemed so relieved. Our poor little guy was in so much pain. He's usually very laid back and happy and he had been crying and needy. Tylenol and chewing on damp dishcloths seem to be the only things that help!

Since the tooth has come through, he seems back to his happy self! We are anxiously awaiting the next one.

So, to celebrate Ian's first tooth, here is a video of him in one of his favorite activities...the Jump-A-Roo.

Big Red Tractor

Ian sat on a tractor for the first time on May 2nd. We went to visit Nana and Papa for Nana's birthday and then rode the tractors on Sunday. Uncle Jon was able to spend the weekend with us as well!

First Papa, Daddy and Uncle Jon had to show Ian how the tractors worked, so Ian had his very own private parade! I don't know who had more fun, there were big smiles from all three.

The parade did turn into a mini race, with Papa winning! :)

Ian wasn't afraid of the tractors at all! In the picture below, he has his serious face on, but he was very laid back about the whole thing.

This is my favorite family photo we have so far!

We had a great weekend in Albert Lea and I'm sure this is just the beginning of many tractor rides (and tractor drives!) for Ian.

The Baptism

On Sunday, April 18th, Ian was Baptized at Decorah Lutheran Church.

We are fortunate that all our family was able to be present to celebrate such a special event in Ian's life.

Ian was wonderful during the service. He smiled at the congregation and didn't even cry when Pastor Robertson poured the holy water on his head! I think he thought he was getting a bath and he wasn't sure why everyone was watching!

Ian's Godparents, Jessie and Scott came on Saturday and we spent the day together. Ian loved watching his cousin Avery jump and play and gave Avery big smiles and giggles!

Cousins Riley and Hailey were so quiet during the service, I had to look to see if they had fallen asleep! They hadn't they were just being very good! I'm convinced that Ian has the best (and cutest) cousins in the world! After the service, we had lunch (and of course cake!) in the Church social hall and Riley, Avery and Hailey had fun playing on the stage!

A special thanks to Uncle Jon for taking photos, Grandma Olson for making Ian's Baptismal outfit and making cheesy potatoes and to Nana for making salad, chicken noodle hot dish and for bringing Ian's cake!

The Big Roll Over

On Sunday, we came home from Riley's 5th Birthday party, fed Ian and then I laid him on the floor for tummy time. To our surprise, he rolled over! Since Ian dislikes tummy time, he's never really even attempted to roll over, so we were shocked it happened! I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I put Ian back on his tummy and he did it again! He was a bit surprised by our reactions, but he loved it!

Here are a few "action" photos of Ian rolling over this evening.

Karen, Ian's daycare provider, told us that he rolled over from his back to his tummy this afternoon! She stated his rattle was out of his reach, so he rolled over and grabbed it! I haven't seen the back-to-tummy roll, but am anxious to see for myself!

Another big milestone is we started rice cereal. I don't think Ian cares for the taste very much, but I try to keep it fun for him and so far he smiles when I put the spoon in his mouth. But then he immediately spits the majority of it out!
In this photo, I'm trying to show how much of the cereal is on his face and bib!

4 Months and Growing!

Ian had his 4 month well baby doctor appointment on Friday. Ian weighs 15lbs. 1 oz, which puts him in the 60% for weight and he's in the 70% for height!

Ian does have cradle cap, so the doctor gave us directions on how the eliminate it.
We also get to start Ian on rice cereal and baby food veggies! I'm excited for this, I have a feeling there will be more food on Ian (and Kurt and I) than in Ian, but it's another phase of Ian's development. I say this every post, but I still can't believe how fast Ian is growing! Everyday he seems stronger.

Ian still has his sweet disposition and gives us big smiles, giggles and laughs every morning and most nights.

Ian has started to sleep through the night - only waking twice a night compared to the every two hour schedule we have had for the last 4 months! I'm hoping that we are on the last few nights of getting up every few hours!

Here is a photo of me as a baby next to a photo of Ian:

Pat A Cake, Pat A Cake

Ian's personality is really developing and he loves to play "Pat A Cake". He laughs, smiles and "sings" along to the song.We had been working on grabbing and holding a rattle and last night, Sunday, Ian picked up the rattle that was next to him on the floor! I was shocked! He picked it up, looked at it and then shook it! I was so proud. To this first time mom, it was a big milestone that made me tear up! My baby is getting so big!

Ian and I went to Albert Lea this past weekend to see Nana, Papa, Uncle Jon, Missy and Great Grandma Kalis. Ian loved all the attention and was so good. He did get a little fussy, but he slept well and for the majority of the time, he had a smile on his face. One thing Ian did was whenever Papa would hold him, he would press his face against Papa's. It's so cute and he only does it to Papa!

We went to see Papa's tractors, but Ian decided it was nap time and slept while Papa let me drive the MTA! I'm sure Ian will be excited to ride the tractors with Papa this summer!

Ian is also getting close to rolling over. He sleeps on his side and I think he will be rolling over very soon!

I'm still in awe of how fast he is growing; we have his 4 month well baby check up in two weeks, so that means another round of immunizations. :(

3 Months Old!

Ian turned 3 months old on Monday, February 22nd! I can't believe how fast he is growing!

Here is a photo I took of Ian on my phone, so the quality isn't the greatest, but it's still one of my favorite photos right now! Ian is a very happy baby and loves to smile and "talk". We have a learning gym for him and it says "hello" and counts in 5 different languages and Ian loves it when we say the words together. It's so fun to watch his expressions.
Another milestone: Ian giggled on Sunday, February 21st! I tried to record it, but every time I start the camera, he becomes shy and just stares into the camera! Here is video of Ian "talking" and I'll keep trying to record his giggle!

Ian was doing well at night -- only waking up twice a night--but this week he has reverted back to waking and nursing every 3 hours! I'm hoping this is a growth spurt and that we'll get back to twice a night soon!
