4 Months and Growing!

Ian had his 4 month well baby doctor appointment on Friday. Ian weighs 15lbs. 1 oz, which puts him in the 60% for weight and he's in the 70% for height!

Ian does have cradle cap, so the doctor gave us directions on how the eliminate it.
We also get to start Ian on rice cereal and baby food veggies! I'm excited for this, I have a feeling there will be more food on Ian (and Kurt and I) than in Ian, but it's another phase of Ian's development. I say this every post, but I still can't believe how fast Ian is growing! Everyday he seems stronger.

Ian still has his sweet disposition and gives us big smiles, giggles and laughs every morning and most nights.

Ian has started to sleep through the night - only waking twice a night compared to the every two hour schedule we have had for the last 4 months! I'm hoping that we are on the last few nights of getting up every few hours!

Here is a photo of me as a baby next to a photo of Ian:

Pat A Cake, Pat A Cake

Ian's personality is really developing and he loves to play "Pat A Cake". He laughs, smiles and "sings" along to the song.We had been working on grabbing and holding a rattle and last night, Sunday, Ian picked up the rattle that was next to him on the floor! I was shocked! He picked it up, looked at it and then shook it! I was so proud. To this first time mom, it was a big milestone that made me tear up! My baby is getting so big!

Ian and I went to Albert Lea this past weekend to see Nana, Papa, Uncle Jon, Missy and Great Grandma Kalis. Ian loved all the attention and was so good. He did get a little fussy, but he slept well and for the majority of the time, he had a smile on his face. One thing Ian did was whenever Papa would hold him, he would press his face against Papa's. It's so cute and he only does it to Papa!

We went to see Papa's tractors, but Ian decided it was nap time and slept while Papa let me drive the MTA! I'm sure Ian will be excited to ride the tractors with Papa this summer!

Ian is also getting close to rolling over. He sleeps on his side and I think he will be rolling over very soon!

I'm still in awe of how fast he is growing; we have his 4 month well baby check up in two weeks, so that means another round of immunizations. :(

3 Months Old!

Ian turned 3 months old on Monday, February 22nd! I can't believe how fast he is growing!

Here is a photo I took of Ian on my phone, so the quality isn't the greatest, but it's still one of my favorite photos right now! Ian is a very happy baby and loves to smile and "talk". We have a learning gym for him and it says "hello" and counts in 5 different languages and Ian loves it when we say the words together. It's so fun to watch his expressions.
Another milestone: Ian giggled on Sunday, February 21st! I tried to record it, but every time I start the camera, he becomes shy and just stares into the camera! Here is video of Ian "talking" and I'll keep trying to record his giggle!

Ian was doing well at night -- only waking up twice a night--but this week he has reverted back to waking and nursing every 3 hours! I'm hoping this is a growth spurt and that we'll get back to twice a night soon!

The Sweetest Valentine

Today was Ian's first Valentine's Day!

Here is Ian and me with our red Valentine outfits.

Today Ian went to Church for the first time. We went to Decorah Lutheran and there were so many young families and babies! Ian enjoyed the music and singing and even started to sing along. He was very good in church and didn't cry once.

I finally was able to get Ian to smile for the camera! I've tried countless times to "catch" him smiling, but these are the first photos of his smile...the best Valentine gift Ian could give me!Here Ian is getting tired of me taking photos...
Ian has booties with bells on them and he loves to move his legs to make the bells jingle. At first he didn't know where the sound was coming from and was a little frightened, but then when he realized he could make the noise, it became a fun game.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Growing So Fast

We haven't had internet at our rental house, so now that we are up and running, I hope to update the blog more often! Here is a brief update of the past few months...

We hosted the Klocek Christmas at our Fort Dodge house and Ian got to meet his Auntie Jessie, Uncle Scott, Uncle Jon, Missy and his cousin Avery!

Avery was so gentle with Ian and would stop playing to gently pat Ian on the head and say "Hi". It was too precious!

Ian also got to meet his cousins Riley and Hailey when they came to help us move in early January. Ian loved to look at them and watch them run around!

Ian had his 2 month doctor appointment on Friday, January 27th. Ian weighed 12 lbs. 14 oz and is in the 80th percentile for weight and 60 percentile for height! The doctor said he's an extremely healthy little boy and has impressive head control for his age! Ian smiled quite a bit at the doctor, until it was time to get his shots. :( Fortunately, Ian didn't have any reaction to the immunizations.

We spent this past Saturday and Sunday at Nana and Papa's house and Ian loved all the attention! Great Grandma Betty came over and Ian loved to smile at her. I need to get better at taking photos, I didn't get photos of Ian with Nana and Papa! We'll make sure we get some on the next visit!

Three Weeks Old!

I cant believe it, but Ian is three weeks old today! At our two week check up, Ian weighed nine pounds and grew 1 1/2 inches in length! He usually feeds every two hours, so we are still adjusting to the new sleep schedule, but lately Ian has started to sleep for three or hours at night so we hope this continues!

Ian's pets, Boomer and Charlie are still adjusting to the new sleep schedule as well! Boomer is very curious about Ian and wants to be near him. He has tried to give him "kisses" so we have been watching him close so Ian won't be covered in dog slobber! Charlie is somewhat interested. She likes to watch Ian from a distance.

As you can see, Ian has already changed in looks! We love watching his expressions and his personality develop.

Welcome to the World Ian Oliver!

Ian Oliver entered the world on Monday, November 30th, 2009 at 11:13pm. After laboring all day (water was broke at 8:30am) Ian reluctantly decided to join us!
Ian weighed a healthy 7lbs. 7 oz and was 20 1/2 in. long.

We were able to take Ian home on Wednesday, December 2nd and he was able to meet his Grandma Olson and Nana and Papa that evening!

Ian has his first doctor appointment on Monday, December 7th. We are eager to find out how much weight Ian has gained. In just one week, Ian is already changing in looks and growing big and strong. Here is a photo of proud Daddy O with Ian.
